Dear fellow quilters
I am so happy that the pretty season is here with lots of flowers blooming and small green leaves appearing from ‘dead’ bushes and trees… the year has really sped past and soon it will be summer holidays… bliss!

We have some great things happening in our guild before we pack for the holiday, including our biennial quilt exhibition for the public, this year to be held at the Voortrekker Monument on their invitation as part of their 80th anniversary celebrations. The SAQG traveling exhibition will also be on display. All the details are in this newsletter, please have a look. The other major celebration is of course our 20th birthday High Tea, which will take place on the 10th of November. Have you purchased your ticket for this fabulous fun morning yet? Lots of lucky draws, a quilt auction, live music, and an interesting guest speaker are but some of the things we have lined up for you. Please support us, as this is also our main fund raiser for next year’s National Quilt Festival. See all the details elsewhere in this edition.

Now to the things that pull at our heart strings…we would like to make this Christmas a little bit more special for the hundreds, yes hundreds of senior citizens in the west of Pretoria who have put forward their Christmas wish lists. Please let us support this drive by bringing an item or two that you think will be a treat for a lonely senior citizen to the Friendship meeting and we shall make sure it gets delivered to the appropriate institutions. This can be a packet of savoury or sweet biscuits, a slab of chocolates, fragrant soap / hand cream, warm socks etc. It does not have to be wrapped as it will be part of a surprise gift for each of the recipients.

Our Friendship meeting will be packed with great vendors, good coffee and interesting demos, so please join us for the morning!

Until then, happy stitching ☺
