News from the Chair – Erla Cilliers

The leaves are all over our gardens, the chill is unmistakably in the air, I am looking forward to the evenings in front of the fireplace, with some comfort food and a …maybe ‘glùhwein’?

The year is almost halfway…unbelievable. I hope that everyone who wanted to complete a quilt for the National Festival’s competition this year had submitted their quilts in time, and can now focus on new quilting goals for the year ☺ …not to even mention the Festival fever that is slowly but surely building for those who are fortunate enough to be able to go…I trust everyone who go will learn a lot and most of all…have FUN!

We are very excited and proud to present to you our new Jacaranda brand – the letterhead and our promotional material will in future be recognised by the ‘pieced’ Jacaranda tree. At our next Friendship meeting we shall share a once off small token of our new brand, so make sure you are there!

In line with our theme of ‘Perspective’ for the winter version of our Friendship meeting, please find an interesting article somewhere else in the newsletter regarding exactly this topic. We noticed that you liked the ‘Share your Square’ concept, so see our challenge for this month elsewhere in the newsletter?! The meeting time of 10:00 was also very well received, so we shall try our best to keep meetings in future to an hour!

Join us for a wonderfully exciting meeting on the 10th of June, an interesting talk on colour, design and perspective by two of our own renowned quilters, Ina Meyer and Marianne Niemandt, and lots of good vibes…see you there!

Until then….keep calm and piece

Love, Erla
